Exchange Club's Family Center of the Central Piedmont is Hiring a Certified Peer Support Specialist Near Graham, NC

The Exchange Club’s Family Center of the Central Piedmont, a non-profit child abuse prevention and treatment agency, is actively seeking certified Peer Support Specialists. The Peer Support Specialist is required to have a minimum of a high school diploma but bachelor’s degree in a human services field of study preferred. The Certified Peer Support Specialist will work with individuals that need assistance in overcoming life challenges related to mental health issues, substance use issues, developmental issues, and other issues of trauma and stressors that is resulting in functional impairments. The Peer Support Specialist will provide hope, support, advocacy, psychoeducation, coaching, role modeling, and help to increase the client’s skills and self-determination. Provides case management and direct support to address individual goals on a person-centered plan and assist them in achieving their goals. This includes finding resources, attending meetings, encouraging follow through on goal achievement and recommendations, and locating other services the client might need. Engaging the client in developing healthy relationships through social activities, home visits, and accompanying the client to meetings or other groups/appointments that will help them with skill building and or goal achievement. Assisting the client with identifying and effectively responding to or avoiding identified precursors or triggers that result in functional impairments. Additional responsibilities of the position include participation in the daily activities of a non-profit such as intake, on-call emergency rotation, clinical staffing, community awareness events, and fundraising activities.The Peer Support Specialist is required to have a minimum of a high school diploma however a bachelor’s degree in social work, Psychology, Counseling, human services or related field from an accredited college or university is preferred. The position also requires experience working with children and adolescents with a mental health diagnosis for at least one year. The candidate must possess a certification as a Peer Support Specialist (NC CPSS Certification). Experience in working with child abuse and neglect at-risk populations and non-profits is preferred. Ideal candidates will have a history of overcoming challenges related to trauma, menta health, developmental issues, and or life stressors and has been successful. Bilingual and culturally competent individuals are encouraged to apply. Experience with Microsoft Office applications and email servers, office machinery, and general computer skills required. We are looking for candidates that have an attention to detail, organizational and multitasking abilities, reliability and strong work ethic, ability to work independently, professionalism in working with participants, employees, and community representatives, quality oral and written skills, and ability to solve complex problems under deadlines.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $16.82 per hour

Expected hours: 10 – 30 per week
